Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Gujarat on August 28, where he will chair the meeting of the Western Zonal Council and offer prayers at the Hanuman temple.
The Western Regional Council is a forum for discussion and decision-making with the aim of promoting effective governance and cooperation across the region. It includes the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and the union territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
The last meeting of the Western Zonal Council was held on 11 June 2022 at Diu. The respective Home Ministers representing each of the states in this jurisdiction are expected to participate in this forthcoming meeting.
Apart from presiding over the meeting, Shah will also pay a spiritual visit to Camp Hanuman Mandir in Shahibagh, Ahmedabad. During his temple visit, he would perform aarti, a devotional ritual.
The Home Minister’s visit to Gujarat is a reflection of the importance the government attaches to the region. The Western Zonal Council plays an important role in promoting regional coordination and cooperation and Shah’s participation in the meeting is a strong indication of the government’s commitment to this goal.
