Samsung has begun expanding One UI 9 beyond its latest foldables, starting with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra on 16 September. The update brings changes to video editing, daily summaries, device care and privacy information.
It is a staged rollout, not a promise that every eligible Galaxy receives every feature on the same day. Country, language, model and account requirements still shape the experience.
Editing and device care get practical changes
My FanCam tracks a selected person in a recorded video and reframes the footage to keep that person in view. Samsung says the feature requires a Samsung Account and depends on the video; it cannot work when there is no subject to track, and accuracy is not guaranteed.
That makes it a starting point for a crop, rather than a reason to skip watching the result. Check moments where people cross, leave the frame or move behind an obstruction before sharing the edited clip.
Now Brief gains generative and editable cards across areas such as weather, health and video. The new Warranty and Care menu puts support information and device-care options in Settings, though repair estimates and related services vary by region.
Samsung also describes improvements to document scanning, including curved book pages and folded paper, plus a clearer presentation of Voice Recorder summaries. For important documents or meeting notes, compare the output with the original before treating it as complete.
Privacy alerts have their own limits
Security Brief surfaces information such as alerts about malware, unknown-source apps and unnecessary permissions. Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to identify potential issues, including background attempts to access permissions.
These are prompts to inspect what an application is doing. Their presence does not establish that every risky action will be detected, nor that every flagged permission request is malicious.
Samsung’s expansion of Scam Detection names Japan, Canada and India. The global announcement should not be read as confirmation of that expansion in Australia. The company separately lists model and software conditions for security and AI features.
