Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ go on sale in Australia on 22 October. Samsung Australia announced the series on 30 September, with the 14.6-inch Ultra priced from A$2,299 and the 12.6-inch Tab S12+ from A$1,999. Both come in grey and include an S Pen in the box.
Two sizes on the same chip
The two tablets share a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, Android 17 with One UI 9, Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens with a 120Hz refresh rate, IP68 water and dust resistance, and microSD support up to 2TB. The differences sit mainly in size, memory and wireless hardware:
- Tab S12 Ultra: 14.6-inch 2960 x 1848 display, 5.1 mm thick, 692 g for the Wi-Fi model, 11,600 mAh battery, Wi-Fi 7, and configurations of 12GB with 256GB or 512GB storage, or 16GB with 1TB.
- Tab S12+: 12.6-inch 2800 x 1752 display, 5.3 mm thick, 553 g for the Wi-Fi model, 10,600 mAh battery, Wi-Fi 6E, and 12GB of memory with 256GB or 512GB storage.
Both have 5G options with a physical SIM and eSIM. Samsung quotes up to 23 hours of video playback for the Ultra and up to 21 hours for the Plus. Those are Samsung’s own lab figures for 720p local video, not independent results, and real use will vary with brightness and network conditions.
What costs extra
The S Pen is included, but the Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim are sold separately. The tablets support 45W wired charging, and Samsung’s notes say the 45W power adapter is also sold separately. Anyone planning to use a tablet as a laptop replacement should price the keyboard and charger with it.
Trials that renew
Eligible buyers receive six months of Google AI Pro, which Samsung values at A$197.94 based on an Australian price of A$32.99 a month. There is also a four-month Photoshop mobile offer, valued on Samsung’s figures at A$35.99 a month and limited to people who have not previously subscribed to the Photoshop Android app. Samsung says both renew automatically at the applicable price unless cancelled, so set a reminder before the trial ends.
Samsung also says Adobe’s tablet version of Photoshop will be exclusive to the Galaxy Store for at least six months from 7 October.
Update support
Samsung says both models will receive up to seven OS upgrades and security updates. That matters for a device in this price range. Software support is one of the checks in our phone upgrade checklist, and the same thinking applies to tablets. For the software the tablets ship with, see our report on One UI 9’s rollout to the Galaxy S26 family.
