Apple HomeView, a smart home display with a speaker base, costs A$449 in Australia. Apple’s Australian newsroom announced it on 14 October, with pre-orders open now and availability from Friday, 13 November. A second-generation HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K were announced at the same time, and both can also be pre-ordered today.
What HomeView is
HomeView is a 7-inch display on a domed speaker base, joined by a stainless steel hinge so the screen can tilt. Apple pitches it at the kitchen bench, the bedside table and the hallway: it plays music and video, makes FaceTime calls, shows camera feeds and controls smart home accessories by touch or by voice.
It recognises up to six people by their faces and gives each one a personal Home Screen. Apple says content from apps such as Messages and Calendar appears only when the enrolled person is recognised and their paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and recently unlocked. HomeView uses Siri AI, the new version of Siri Apple previewed at WWDC in June, and Apple lists Australia among the countries where Siri AI on HomeView is available in English.
There are two models at the same A$449 price. The tabletop version comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. The wall-mounted version, in space grey and silver, attaches with a Schneider Home mount bought separately: the Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector starts at A$94.95 and the Power Mount AC Wired at A$124.95, both orderable now. A Power over Ethernet mount at A$199.95 is due in early 2027.
HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K
HomePod mini 2 costs A$229 in pink, green, blue, white and midnight, with availability from Friday, 30 October. Siri AI is not on it at launch: Apple says it will arrive in English, including in Australia, through a future software update.
The new Apple TV 4K costs A$449 and is available from 13 November. Apple says it adds three far-field microphones for hands-free Siri, an A19 chip with a dedicated AV1 decoder, and a Siri Remote that works with Find My. Paired with four HomePod mini 2 speakers, or four second-generation HomePods, it supports a four-speaker surround setup. Siri AI is available as a beta on Apple TV 4K from the second generation onwards, so owners of a recent model do not need the new box to try it.
What is not coming here yet
Apple also announced the Apple Home Collection, a range of cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock and thermostats made with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. At launch, Apple lists the doorbell and cameras for the US, Canada and the UK, and the lock and thermostat for the US and Canada only. HomeView works with existing accessories that support Works with Apple Home and Matter.
All prices are Apple’s recommended retail prices including GST. The performance and audio descriptions above are Apple’s own claims; independent testing will follow once the devices are on sale.
